At A’Hern Fitness we organise groups and teams for fun runs and other events. One event that stands out for us is the Color run. Which was recently held in Canberra on Sunday 12th February.
A few of our amazing clients participated. We asked Alanna a few questions about her experience

What made you want to do the colour run?
I first participated in the Color Run four years ago along side my personal trainer, Jennifer A’Hern and we couldn't stop laughing the whole time. It’s since become a regular yearly event probably as it provides such a fun and energy packed atmosphere with lots of entertainment. In keeping with this years "Tropicolor" theme I set up our team the "Pineapple Princesses" so myself, Fiona, Lesa and Ellie had a fantastic time with our valued team support taking extra pics and cheering us along the way.
What was the motivation you had to do the colour run?
Lake Burley Griffin is one of the best locations in Canberra for a fun run along with the atmosphere of being the "Happiest 5km on the Planet" which I definitely agree with. Each year they provide my favourite Zumba warm up and get us into the Color shute to the start point (Regatta Point) with music playing and crowd participation. Than with great excitement we set off through various colour stations and what could be better than having a whole heap of coloured powder, glitter, bubbles and confetti thrown at you with extra colour packets, a medal and dance party at Stage 88 waiting for us
How did you go in the Colour Run?
The conditions were not ideal due to 40+ degrees, heavy rain and thunder storms but thankfully the weather held up (we even saw a rainbow over the lake) and although very humid I was able to still run/walk the 5km with thanks to my Pineapple Princesses. Overall I was very pleased with our efforts, Fiona survived with jet lag, we encouraged each other as a team to enjoy it and finish together walking away with a sense of accomplishment, some big blisters and personal training sessions to look forward to the following day...
This year we were surprised with colour changing foam so we got covered in pink, Lesa got covered in blue foam (think Smurf's) and introduction of “Confetti Land” which was a large enclosed tent filled with coloured foil confetti (near the finish line). Although this event is not timed overall its really well organised and each year they take our feedback on board to make it bigger and more fun. Keep an eye out for the new glowtastic Color Run at night (Melbourne and Sydney this April) hopefully coming to Canberra soon along with other upcoming Team A’Hern events.
