Winter time can often be a very challenging period in controlling weight and keeping motivation up as it gets colder, darker and you feel less energetic. Our role at A’Hern Fitness is to keep your motivation up and direct your program to help you achieve your goals.

Some simple things to help keep up your motivation, training and overall wellbeing over winter:
Drink plenty of water, even though you may not feel as thirsty in winter, you still need to keep hydrated, especially whilst indoors where heaters are on, drying the air we breath.
Plan your exercise and plan your week, make sure you know what you are doing before you look outside and let the weather deter you.
Warming up your stiff cold muscles before exercise takes longer in winter, so dont rush the warm up of your exercise session
Keep moving, during your normal day, use the stairs, walk around the block at lunch time. Dont let yourself stiffen up.
Layer up, dress warm, but not dont over do it. You dont want to be hot! Allow your exercise outfit to be layered, so as you warm up during your session, you can remove layers. If you are training outdoors, gloves, beanies and soemthing to cover your mouth are a must.
Train inside if you can. If you are training outside, make sure you come inside to do your stretching, limit your time outside.
Stretch and a warm shower at the end of your session, to avoid siffening up.
Remember as part of your PT package you can come into the studio anytime between your PT sessions. So even if you are not booked in, come into the studio for some cardio, stretching and movement. You will feel better and more motivated this winter.
