Not only working long hours in front of our computers is putting pressure on our spines, but research has now shown that tilting your head forward to scroll through your phones daily newsfeeds, Instagram or Facebook, is also giving us bad posture.

Forward hunched shoulders and over active trapezius muscles (these are the ones around the top of your shoulder to your neck) are things we at A'Hern Fitness often see in our clients. Not only giving us bad posture, but relating to other health issues, like headaches, migraines and overall a general feeling of unwell from inability to digest food properly, and breathing issues.

Helping clients to stretch and strengthen the back muscles as well as the core, to teach better posture is just one of the many things we do to help this ever growing problem. Many of the exercises we do with our clients are simple and don’t require a lot of equipment. Once learnt, you can also do them at home.

By strengthening your back muscles, as well as your core, you will not only feel better, but look better and stand taller.

Some of the exercises prescribed for your core are planks, dumbbell side bends, back extensions and superman’s. Reverse fly’s and rows to strengthen the upper back. Any muscles that are tight, we stretch, often the hip flexors, chest, shoulders and neck muscles.

So if you are feeling stressed, have a tight neck, or dealing with headaches, it may be as simple as doing some daily exercises to get back on track. To book your assessment today, email us at info@ahernfitness.com.au
