Ever heard the saying, “burn calories while you sleep”? We’ll its possible. It’s called increasing your metabolism, which is a fancy way of measuring your body’s effectiveness in burning calories. Including strength work into your program you will be able to effectively continue to burn calories long after your work out is complete. The higher the intensity of the weight training, the better the result.
By incorporating weights into your weekly program, as well as continued cardio and dieting, you will not only lean up, but increase your metabolism and your ability to burn fat.
When we talk about strength training, in general, we focus on large muscle groups because the larger the muscle we work, the more calories we burn, and the more calories we burn, the more fat we burn.
To give you some assurance and crush some of the myths….You don’t have to lift heavy weights, you don’t have to go to the gym every day, and as a lot of you out there worry, most of all, you won’t get big if you lift weights. Unless that is the result you are after, that entails a completely different type of weight training all together.

Incorporating weight training into your program not only helps with weight loss, but helps with balance, stability, taking pressure off your joints, which results in less injury. At A’Hern Fitness we work on your personal balance, and your personal bodies instabilities, we strengthen what is weak, and we stretch muscles that are tight, eventually giving you better posture, balance and in the end, less pain.
As we get older too, our metabolism decreases, it’s just a part of getting old, like our diminishing eye sight… This makes weight training even more important as we age, again, you don’t have to go to a normal standard gym, mixing it up with the masses.
Come to a place like A’Hern Fitness, were you will be made comfortable right from the start. We can teach you what you need to do, ensure you are doing the exercises right, and to make the most of your workouts. We can show you how to incorporate body weight exercises into your exercise program, exercises that you can do at home, using your body weight and general household items to better achieve this.
The secret is consistency, making exercise and strength training part of your everyday and you will not only see results, but you will feel the results.
